
Rajya Sabha MP Anurag Sharma said on Tuesday that the Congress’ impressive performance in the urban local body elections in Kangra district was as a clear endorsement of the pro-people policies of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the tireless efforts of party workers at the grassroots level.
Sharma, while addressing mediapersons at Baijnath, said that the election results reflected the strong faith people had in the Congress government. He added that the public had appreciated the welfare-oriented decisions taken by the Sukhu government in the past three and a half years.
Sharma expressed gratitude to the voters of Kangra district, successful Congress-supported candidates, party office-bearers and thousands of workers who worked tirelessly during the election campaign. He said that the victory was not merely confined to the municipal elections but also carried a significant political message for the future political landscape of the state.
He described the election results as a clear indication of the Congress’ prospects in the 2027 Assembly elections. He said that the party would win all 15 Assembly seats in the district. He added that the people of Kangra had shown confidence in the leadership of the Chief Minister and the developmental vision of the state government.
Sharma said that the state government had taken several welfare-oriented decisions aimed at benefiting common people, employees, youth, women, farmers and weaker sections of society. He said that the Congress government remained committed to transparent governance and balanced development in the state. The Congress leaders and workers celebrated the victory in the urban local body elections with enthusiasm in various parts of the district.
