The local unit of the Congress organised a protest on Tuesday over spate of paper leaks that have rocked the country.

District (Urban) Congress president Sanjay Talwar led the protest at Jagraon Bridge here. The protesters sought action over the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) paper leak, and the widespread mismanagement and poor administration in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The protesters burnt an effigy of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and sought his resignation. The protest here was organised as part of state-wide demonstrations by the party.

Addressing the gathering, senior Congress leaders said 22 lakh students suffered due to the NEET cancellation.

The Congress sought an impartial probe under Supreme Court supervision into the paper leak network, arrest of all culprits — including the “big fish”— and fast-track trials to ensure strict punishment for those guilty of sabotaging students’ futures.

The protesters pointed out this was the second time the NEET paper had been leaked and yet, no concrete action had been taken. The leaders demanded that the National Testing Agency (NTA), which they said has repeatedly failed in conducting the NEET, be dissolved, and that a reliable and transparent system be established for conducting the NEET.
