The District Congress Committee on Tuesday staged a protest at the district headquarters against the NEET paper leak and burnt an effigy of the Union Government, demanding a high-level probe into the matter.

Addressing party workers, District Congress president Surinder Singh Ramgarh and former MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra criticised the BJP-led Centre, alleging that repeated incidents of question paper leak had undermined the credibility of the examination system.

They said that lakhs of students prepared for examinations such as NEET with the hope of securing admission to professional courses, while their families investing considerable time and resources in their education.

Incidents of paper leaks, they alleged, jeopardised the future of deserving candidates and erode public confidence in recruitment and examination processes.

The Congress leaders demanded an impartial and high-level investigation into the alleged leak and sought stringent action against those found responsible. They also called for measures to ensure transparency and fairness in future examinations.
