Conor McGregor has hinted that his return to the UFC is now set.

Conor McGregor has strongly indicated that his long-awaited return to the UFC is now set. The former two-division champion has not competed since suffering a broken leg in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

A planned comeback against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024 was scrapped after McGregor broke his toe in training. At the time, he made it clear he would only return once fully fit, and recent developments suggest that moment may have finally arrived.

Throughout 2026, McGregor has remained in discussions with the UFC regarding his next fight. Recent reports indicate that negotiations have advanced significantly, pointing toward a return in the coming months.

The Irishman appeared to confirm those expectations with a characteristically bold Instagram post. “The rumours are true,” he wrote. “Mr. Confidence returns to save fighting again! … Watch and pay me… FOR LIFE AND ETERNITY, IT’S MCGREGOR!” He continued with a series of statements reinforcing his confidence and excitement about stepping back into the spotlight.

Possible return date emerges as July target

Veteran MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has suggested that McGregor’s comeback could take place during International Fight Week in Las Vegas. According to Helwani, only an unexpected setback would prevent the Irishman from competing on July 11.

“I think it would be a disastrous situation… if he’s not fighting on July 11th,” Helwani said, referencing recent positive talks between McGregor and the UFC.
