Conor McGregor sends message to UFC fans after knee surgery

  • UFC fighter Conor McGregor suffered a torn ACL and meniscus within 70 seconds of his fight against Max Holloway in July, marking his first bout in five years.
  • McGregor has since undergone successful knee surgery to repair the injury, which occurred after a previous leg break had sidelined him.
  • The 38-year-old Irishman has now sent a fresh message to UFC fans, telling them: “The doubters can keep talking. I didn’t run from the pain. I walked straight into it. Now the real work begins. Comeback season starts now. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just the will to rise again.”
  • McGregor has stated he is drawing inspiration from other athletes, including Dominick Cruz, Georges St-Pierre, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers, who successfully returned from similar severe injuries.
  • McGregor's return to the Octagon is not anticipated before next summer, with UFC president Dana White previously stating that the Irish star would need a year to recover from his latest injury setback.
