He died late on Tuesday night of multi-organ failure at a private hospital in the capital Athens, Anadolu Agency cited public broadcaster ERT reported.
He is expected to be buried at the royal tomb in Tatoi Palace, the former summer palace of the Greek royal family, but the government will make a final decision on Wednesday, the report said.
Born on June 2, 1940 in Athens, he acceded to the throne as Constantine II in 1964.
He was forced into exile after the military junta seized power in 1967.
The junta abolished the monarchy in 1973.
