LABUAN: The newly-appointed Republic of Indonesia’s Consul General in Kota Kinabalu Rafail Walangitan, has requested Sabah United Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SUCCC) to strengthen business ties with Kalimantan for a win-win situation.

This is especially with the relocation of the Indonesian capital to Kalimantan which will create a lot of business opportunities.

Rafail made the request when he and SUCCC President Tan Sri Andrew Liew met at the Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce’s (LCCC) 37th Installation Ceremony, here, recently. They were both invited to the event, with Liew as the guest of honour.

Their discussion centred on current development in Sabah and Indonesia, the relocation of the Indonesian capital to Kalimantan as well as economic and trade exchanges.

Rafail highly praised Liew whom he noticed has been aggressively promoting local economy, Chinese chambers of commerce, Chinese education, community associations as well as economic and trade exchanges.

Liew, who is also Vice President of the Malaysian Chinese Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), strongly believes a business cooperation with Kalimantan would ensure prosperity between the two regions.
