Container lorry plunges 20 metres into Gua Musang ravine, driver killed

A LORRY driver was killed after the container lorry he was driving veered off the Gua Musang-Kuala Krai road and plunged into a 20-metre-deep ravine near Ladang Serasa in Gua Musang, Kelantan today.

Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Muhammad Azrul Izzham Zulkifli said the department received an emergency call about the accident at 9.11am.

He said a team of seven firefighters, using three vehicles, arrived at the scene at 9.58am after travelling 65 kilometres to reach the location.

"The accident involved a container lorry that veered off the road and fell into a 20-metre-deep ravine. The accident resulted in the lorry driver being trapped and he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel," he said.

Firefighters used specialised equipment to extricate the victim from the wreckage, with assistance from a private-sector crane operator.

"The victim was handed over to the police for further action," he said when contacted. - August 31, 2026
