Kota Kinabalu: DEPUTY Higher Education Minister, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, officiated at an eye-dotting ceremony in Inanam, last Saturday.

It was also attended by Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Assistant Minister, Peto Galim, among others.

The Sepanggar MP said Chinese New Year brings together people from various multiracial and multi-religious backgrounds.

“We want this tradition to be upheld so young people realise that this is a special event that needs to be continued,” he said.

The lion dance performers were from Kinabalu Inspiration Sports Club, Kg Tatahan Kionsom Sports and Recreation Club, Keong Fatt Sabah Dragon and Lion Dance Association, and Xu Xiang Dragon and Lion Dance Association.

Other performances included dragon dance by Xu Xiang Association and unicorn dance performed by the Yu Yi Lion and Unicorn Dragon Dance Association.
