Continue tradition of harmony, urges TYT

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman called on Malaysians to continue preserving racial and religious harmony while embracing the country’s cultural diversity.

In his Deepavali message to the Hindu community, Musa said the Festival of Lights served as a reminder of the importance of hope, compassion, kindness and mutual respect.

He and his consort, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin extended their warmest wishes to Hindus celebrating Deepavali in Sabah and across Malaysia, expressing hope that the festival would bring peace, happiness and renewed hope to families.

“My wife and I extend our warmest wishes to all Hindus celebrating Deepavali in Sabah and across Malaysia. May this Festival of Lights bring peace, happiness and renewed hope to you and your families. Let us embrace this spirit of goodwill, strengthen the bonds of friendship among our diverse communities and cherish the racial and religious harmony that unites us as Malaysians,” he said.

Musa said Malaysians shared a proud tradition of living in harmony and celebrating one another’s festivities across ethnic and religious lines.

He added that the country’s diversity enriched shared lives, making it increasingly important for everyone to uphold unity in diversity while respecting the unique cultures and traditions of each community.

He also encouraged the public to reach out to one another with kindness, understanding and respect, particularly during the festive season.

“May your homes be filled with warmth, joy and togetherness as loved ones gather in celebration. Selamat Hari Deepavali,” Musa said.
