SANDAKAN: Sabah Region 4 Marine Police confiscated contraband cigarettes valued at RM94,800 during a raid on a house in Kampung Combo Laut’s water village, here, Monday.
Its Commander ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said the 3.05pm operation led to the inspection of the premises suspected to be used as a storage for untaxed cigarettes intended for sale in the local market.
“The inspection resulted in the seizure of 79,000 cigarettes of various brands,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under the Customs Act 1967.
He said they welcome information and cooperation from the public to report any illegal activities.
He said the marine police is committed to combating smuggling crimes to safeguard the nation’s security and welfare.
