Some people dream of becoming rich. This man dreamt of the numbers that actually made it happen.
A 54-year-old renovation contractor from Sarawak has walked away with a whopping RM10.17 million after striking the Toto 4D Jackpot 1 in the draw on Saturday, 26 September.
The father of two, who has been a loyal Sports Toto customer for over 30 years, was calm and collected when he came to claim his winnings at the STM Lottery head office in Kuala Lumpur.
Numbers came from a dream
According to the winner, the winning combination of “8622” and “5765” came to him in a dream, after which he started betting on them.
Remarkably, it was only the second time he had placed a bet on these numbers.
I never expected the numbers to bring me such a huge win. It is something that I am still taking in,” he said.
Bought the ticket during a lunch break
As a regular Toto 4D Jackpot player, the contractor said he typically spends about RM50 a week, drawn in by the size of the jackpot.
He recalled that he was having lunch near one of his renovation project sites when he spotted a Sports Toto outlet right next to the restaurant.
Something made me decide to buy the same numbers again. I did not think much of it at the time,” he said.
The winning ticket was sold in Kuching, Sarawak.
Slept soundly after finding out
When he checked the results on the Sports Toto website later that night, he said he remained surprisingly composed and even managed to get a good night’s sleep.
As for what he plans to do with the money, the contractor said he has not made any big decisions yet.
“For now, I intend to keep the money prudently and set aside a portion for the future well-being of my children. I believe it is important to plan carefully before making any major decisions,” he said.
How much he won exactly?
The winner had purchased a System 4 ticket, which earned him RM10,169,557.55, plus an additional RM672 as a System Play bonus. That brings his total payout to RM10,170,229.55.
Not bad for a ticket that cost him just RM13.20.
