FC Copenhagen coach Jacob Neestrup was left unimpressed by Peter Schmeichel's claims after their Champions League defeat to Manchester City.
FCK lost the first-leg of their round 16 tie 3-1 at the Parken.
Afterwards, Danish legend and former City goalkeeper Schmeichel said: "I think deep down he wanted a really strong effort from his team, but I think deep down he didn't even believe they could beat Manchester City."
After the match, Neestrup was asked about the comments.
"It is at his own expense," he replied. "But I think we have ended up in exactly the same mill as a 16-17 Premier League team also does when they meet Manchester City.
"The fact that he stands and says that I didn't believe it is completely at his own expense.
"But we had a hard time. Just like a number of clubs in the Premier League and Champions League have had and will also have."
