
Tuaran: Police are hunting for a driver who fled the scene after following an accident along the Tuaran – Kota Kinabalu Road near Kampung Bakut here, that resulted in the death of a pedestrian on Saturday.
The victim, a 39-year-old man, was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Tuaran Hospital due to severe injuries to his head and body.
Tuaran District Police Chief Superintendent Noraidin Ag Maidin said the incident occurred while the victim was walking across the road.

“Police are actively investigating to track down the driver who fled the scene of the accident.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a media statement here on Monday.
Noraidin urged members of the public who have any information related to the incident to contact the Tuaran District Police Headquarters Traffic Investigation Officer, Inspector Haffiz, at 011-61600964, or to come forward at any nearby police station.
“The public, especially pedestrians in the area or anywhere else, are also advised to always be cautious and exercise care when on the road,” he said.
