The body of 25-year-old Sudhanshu, who jumped into the Agra Canal near the Sector 37 cut on Wednesday, was recovered by an SDRF team near Kheri Bridge on Friday. The police handed over the body to the family after the post-mortem examination.
The police identified the deceased as Sudhanshu (25), a resident of Chetan Colony in Faridabad. According to the police, Sudhanshu was at home on Wednesday evening when his mother scolded him for being unemployed. Upset after the argument, he left the house with his wife and went to the bridge over the Agra Canal near Sector 37. He later jumped into the canal.
His wife also tried to jump into the canal, but people nearby stopped her. They informed the Palla police station about the incident. Police recorded her details and later dropped her home.
“For two days, SDRF teams searched the Agra Canal for Sudhanshu. On Friday evening, the body was recovered and handed over to the family after the post-mortem,” said Inspector Satya Prakash, SHO of Palla police station.
The police said Sudhanshu had earlier worked for a private company but had left the job some time ago. He had remained unemployed for several months, leading to tension at home. Family members said he got married around a year ago and had no children. His wife is four months pregnant.
