The body of a 25-year-old youth, who jumped into the Agra Canal near Sector 37 cut on Wednesday was recovered by an SDRF team near Kheri bridge on Friday. Police handed over the body to kin after the post-mortem.

According to the police, the youth was identified as Sudhanshu (25), a resident of Chetan Colony, Faridabad.

It was reported that Sudhanshu was home on Wednesday evening. His mother had scolded him for not working. Upset by the scolding, he left the house with his wife and took her to the bridge over the Agra Canal in front of Sector 37. Reaching the bridge, he jumped into the Agra Canal.

Meanwhile, his wife also wanted to jump into the canal, but was stopped by people present nearby. They informed the Palla police station about the incident. Passers-by asked the woman for her name and address and dropped her home.

“For two days, SDRF teams had been searching for Sudhanshu in the Agra Canal. On Friday evening, the team recovered his body. We handed over the body to his kin after the post-mortem”, said inspector Satya Prakash, SHO of Palla police station.

According to the police, the deceased Sudhanshu was previously worked for a company, but for some reason, resigned. He was unemployed for some time, which caused tension at his home.

The family said Sudhanshu got married about a year ago. His wife is currently four months pregnant.
