
Days after police action against unemployed linemen, who locked the entry and exit gates of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited head office during a protest, the Council of Junior Engineers PSEB (regd) has condemned the use of police force against the agitating unemployed ITI apprenticeship lineman and trainees.
Amandeep Jehlavi, state general secretary of the council, said engineering diploma and degree apprenticeship aspirants were on the path of agitation for the past so many days but their demands remained unresolved. In case the delay continues, the situation may aggravate further.
Davinder Singh, patron; and Paramjit Singh Khattra, state president of the council, said in a letter to the Power Minister of Punjab, the council conveyed that police and civil administration action against the unemployed ITI apprenticeship aspirants, who have been peacefully demonstrating for their rightful due and demanding their livelihood, is unacceptable. The council has urged the Power Minister to institute a formal inquiry into the police action.
