A courier rider, known online as @pemburu_parcel, has captured the hearts of thousands after sharing a touching video of a local elderly uncle, known locally as Tuan Haji Halim, who regularly goes out of his way to give him pocket money — even when he doesn’t have a single parcel to be delivered.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the rider shared the heartwarming story behind the viral moment, which took place in a residential neighbourhood in Taman Melawati.
Always tips RM10 every single delivery
According to the rider, Haji Halim is well-known along his delivery route for his incredible generosity whenever he receives a parcel.
“He is genuinely such a generous uncle. I actually feel embarrassed (segan) whenever I deliver parcels to his home. No matter how much or how little his item costs, his tip is always a guaranteed RM10.” he said.
While the uncle’s consistent generosity was already something the rider deeply appreciated, he soon discovered that Haji Halim’s kindness extended far beyond the occasional parcel delivery.
Waits outside the house just to give sedekah
On a day when Haji Halim wasn’t expecting any parcels, the rider happened to pass through the neighbourhood after completing deliveries further up the street. Little did he know, the uncle had been keeping an eye on the road outside his house, hoping to catch him as he went by.
“I didn’t realize he was waiting outside for me.When he called out to me, I initially thought he wanted to ask about a package. Turns out, he just wanted to hand me some extra money!” he explained.
The rider revealed that this wasn’t actually the first time Haji Halim had stopped him to give him some money, although he had previously chosen to keep the moments private as personal memories.
“He gives without expecting anything in return”
For the rider, it was Haji Halim’s willingness to give without needing a reason that touched him the most.
There was no parcel to deliver and no favour being asked in return as he simply wanted to give.
“What touched me most is that he wants to give tips at any time, without waiting for a parcel to arrive. If he sees me, he will definitely call me over. That’s why I asked netizens on TikTok to pray for his good health, because he is just too kind.”
