THE Putrajaya Court of Appeal has fixed March 19 next year as the hearing date for former youth and sports minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman's appeal against his sentence and corruption conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin said the court has fixed March 19 and 20 to hear the appeal during the case management today.
On Nov 9 last year, the Kuala Lumpur High Court imposed the sentence after finding Syed Saddiq guilty of abetting criminal breach of trust (CBT), misappropriation of property and two counts of money laundering.
However, the court granted his application for a stay of execution pending an appeal, allowing him to delay the sentence.
"The court also set March 4 as the final deadline for both parties to submit their respective written submissions," added Wan Shaharuddin.- December 9, 2024
