There’s a lot going on in Elvina Mohamad’s mind. So much so that one train of thought never quite reaches its destination before we jump right onto the next one. She’s pretty excited, to say the least. It’s Lifestyle Asia’s first feature with her; she’s spent much of the day sporting Onitsuka Tiger’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection; and the warm weather outside isn’t dampening her enthusiasm one bit.
We’re cosy in the Presidential Suite of the new hotel tucked in the heart of the city, the Kimpton Naluria. It is a luxuriously fitted penthouse with a stunning view of the Petronas Towers, and the shopping hub that is The Exchange TRX. The Presidential Suite is an open space concept with almost all windows for walls, but the late morning heat doesn’t deter Elvina in the makeup chair. She’s very confident in her own skin, which she later tells me is something built upon years of experimenting.
“Every day, I can spend almost one hour in the bathroom just doing my skincare routine,” Elvina shares. “Every morning, and even every night, I’m thinking about my skincare routine. I start with a toner, and then serum, moisturiser and of course, sunscreen lah. Wajib. And then at night, I use a moisturiser too, to hydrate the skin. It’s like self-care for me.”

If you take a slow scroll through Elvina’s Instagram page these days, you’ll notice that many of her posts revolve around beauty—whether it’s skincare, makeup or fragrance. But Elvina isn’t all that new to the beauty scene. A few years ago, she launched her own skincare brand L’pure Beauty, which was known to feature ingredients like bird’s nest to achieve healthy, glowing skin. Eventually the production came to a halt, and with Elvina’s busy, often unpredictable schedule as an actor, she decided to put the brand on an indefinite hiatus.
“But in the future InsyaaAllah, I do want to try my hand at another business,” Elvina muses. “I really suka fashion. This year, I actually planned nak buat baju Raya. But there was no time, and it was too rushed, so maybe we’ll see—next year, I plan to.”
Today, Elvina’s fashion sense takes a brighter, sportier turn as she dons the Onitsuka Tiger Spring/Summer 2026 Collection. The setting of our cover shoot becomes all the more intentional as the collection draws from the theme of ‘Urban Fantasy’, presenting an altogether dreamy, city-chic narrative—slim yellow track pants paired with a trench coat for the cover.
In the last decade, acting has been Elvina’s higher calling, but that hadn’t always been the case. As a young girl, she—like many girls who grew up in the ultra-romanticised version of early 2000s—dreamed of travelling to faraway places, and believed that becoming a flight attendant would be the way to go. She even went for an interview with AirAsia while juggling starring in TV commercials, but her schedule would soon get the better of her, and she was eventually discovered through her commercials.

“I dapat an offer from this director [Nizam Zakaria], he asked me to come in for a casting call,” she shares. And from that day, it betul-betul gave me the confidence. He was like, ‘You can do this.’” Elvina lets out a laugh. “I said, ‘No, I think I cannot. Because this thing is susah, like, it was not for me.’ At the time, I just didn’t think I could do it. But Abang Nizam was like, ‘You can! You just kena buang that ‘nervousness’ and go to acting classes.’ He offered me to star as an extra with some dialogue. Like, he created an extra character just for me, and he told me to try acting in a drama. So after that, baru I was like, ‘Oh, best jugak acting actually.’ I went to acting classes and everything, and I dapat offer from TV3, Astro… that was when my journey started.”
Much of Elvina’s filmography is made up of romance dramas and horror flicks, but her last project was also one of her biggest: Adrian Teh’s Magik Rompak, her very first action film thus far. (Before Magik Rompak, she took on the film Waruga: Kutukan Ilmu Hitam, a horror flick—something she isn’t completely keen on, but is willing to keep an open mind.) “It’s my first movie with Adrian Teh,” she says, recounting the filming experience. “I loved shooting with him because he is someone yang sangat creative. And the whole production with him, how he works with everyone… sangat, sangat bagus. Like, after 12 hours of shooting, he would tell us, ‘Okay, you guys balik.’ He really takes care of the cast and crew. And that was also the first time I did stunts. All my stunts in the movie, semua I buat sendiri.”
This is especially impressive when you remember that the opening scene of Magik Rompak has Elvina’s character, Maya, dangling from a rope mid-air, struggling to free herself while the rope is in danger of catching fire. She is masked, so it’s easy to assume that a stuntwoman had taken her place—but it’s even cooler to learn that Elvina had decided to try it out on her own.
“Ada actually,” she clarifies when I ask if they’d had a stuntwoman on set, “but the stunt girl macam takut, and Adrian asked me if I would be okay with doing that.” Is she someone who’s scared of heights? “Actually, takut jugak but I just like to think, ‘Try je lah!” And I akan try. It’s for the experience, right? We don’t know when else we can do something like that. So, thanks to Adrian too because I actually got to experience it. And if I get more offers for action movies after this, I would love to take it on.”

This is the mindset that Elvina carries with her throughout not only acting, but also beyond. Having been in the industry for about ten years now, she’s learned a thing or two about keeping her head up above the noise. Elvina prides herself on being a family-oriented woman (she is strict about her filming schedules, and she will always prioritise her family above all else) but it was a hard-learned lesson.
“I wouldn’t say I dah betul-betul ‘grow’ as a person because I’m always, like, still learning,” Elvina says. “I always naklearn, because every day there is benda baru that we have to belajar, kan? And in this industry, you cannot be too comfortable—you have to be very aware. Nowadays, semua benda towards social media. You have to keep up, you can’t be left behind. You have to be active on social media to stay relevant. And I’m someone yang sangat private, actually. What I share online is just 20% of my life.”
I point out that I rarely see Elvina post about her family—much of her Instagram page is her work with beauty brands, or her acting career. “Dulu, I used post about my family,” she adds. “You know, I was excited kan, especially when I had my first son. But after that, I started to dapat banyak negative comments. People would kecam me about my clothing, the way I dress, and they would involve my husband and kids. That’s what I tak suka. So now, I mostly share about my work. And also my hobbies, which is pickleball. I’m, like, really into it now.”

When it comes to her work, Elvina is clearly someone who’s dedicated to what she does. She knows her comfort zone yet is always willing to step out of it whenever she can. In Magik Rompak, she took on dual roles—Maya and Delina—and, having aced it, she went on to star in the web drama Safira (Bukan Nama Sebenar) as both the titular character, Safira, and Nilam, who could not be any more different from each other.
“It was a bit challenging lah,” she tells me, “because I have to act as a ‘tomboy’ kind of character, you know. A bit kasar, and the way I talk pun I had to learn cara cakap like a rempit. And then in the next scene, I have to be nice and soft-spoken. So, that was a bit of a challenge. But I liked it. And I also like it when I baca comments online and people say, ‘Wow, you memang macam rempit.’ It’s like, ‘Wow, okay, so I boleh bawak that character, you know?’”
All in all, acting is also what taught Elvina to stay humble in a world as big as the entertainment industry. “You always kena stay humble,” she affirms. “You always need to keep learning, because if you rasa like you’re already bagus, you will jadi tak bagus pun actually. When you’re humble and you’re always willing to learn, benda tu will help you lah. Like, for me, I tak pernah rasa that I’m famous pun. Not even. Because when I go out, not everyone kenal I pun. I never feel like, ‘Oh, I’m famous, so I have to be like a ‘diva’.’ No, I just want to be myself. And I always, always want to try new things, different things.”
