Covid-19: 3,537 new cases, eight deaths

SHAH ALAM - A total of 3,537 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded on Wednesday with seven of them being imported cases.

It brought the total number of infections in the country to 4,975,473 cases since the Covid-19 pandemic began.

According to data from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) on the KKMNOW portal, a total of eight new deaths due to the outbreak were recorded, including one death involving a case outside hospital facilities or brought-in-dead (BID).

The figure brought the number of deaths in the country so far to 36,628 cases.

Meanwhile, active cases of Covid-19 recorded 27,213 cases, with 25,127 or 92.3 per cent of them being individuals quarantined at home.

Seven patients were placed in the Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Center (PKRC), while a total of 1,978 patients were placed in hospitals with 101 of them admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
