SANDAKAN: 11 motorcycles were seized and 37 summonses issued during Op Samseng Jalanan (motorcycle) conducted targeting illegal street racing activities, at Batu 4, on Saturday night.

A 20-year-old man was also arrested during the operation after he was believed to have been riding dangerously while engaging in competitive riding and racing on public roads.

The operation was carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Sandakan District Police Headquarters, involving a senior officer and nine personnel.

Sandakan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner George Abd Rakman said the suspect’s motorcycle was seized for investigation under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

He said 11 other motorcycles were also seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987, while 37 summonses were issued for various traffic offences.

George said such operations will continue from time to time to curb street racing activities that pose a danger to road users.

He advised the public to comply with the law and avoid engaging in any dangerous activities on the road.
