SHAH ALAM - Confidence is vital for women to take the lead in politics as it is usually known as a male-dominated field.
Therefore, to help build confidence among female leaders, Sarawak Volunteers Exco Aeima Safina Zaidi suggested that more platforms should be created to do so.
“I feel that as a woman we need to be resilient in whatever we do.
“Of course there are hurdles, of course there are challenges that keep on coming but how strong are we to overcome these sorts of challenges ourselves," she said.
She said this during Sinar Daily’s Relatable talk show entitled “Is 30% of Women Enough or Too Much?”.
The other two panelists on the show were Project Fearless founder Nurul Ashiqin Shamsuri and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Associate Professor Dr Ummu Atiyyah Ahmad Zakuan.
On the show, they discussed about whether there were conclusions and achievements of the 30 per cent women’s participation in politics.
Aeima further advised that in order to instill confidence, it was important to possess a set of standards.
“We know that in politics, as a women, we need to work harder.
“But maybe hopefully in the future, with the Gen Z or millennial (perspectives), things will change,” she said.
