
Cricket fans gathered in a large number at the Kangra airport on Friday afternoon to give a rousing welcome to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team that arrived ahead of its much-anticipated IPL encounter against Punjab Kings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday.
The RCB squad landed at the airport in a special chartered flight amid unprecedented excitement among cricket lovers. Long before the team’s arrival, enthusiastic supporters had assembled outside the airport carrying jerseys, posters and mobile phones, eagerly waiting to have a glimpse of their favourite stars.
As players stepped out of the airport, loud cheers and chants filled the air, creating a festive atmosphere. Several fans were seen recording videos, clicking photographs and waving at the players as security personnel struggled to manage the swelling crowd.
The arrival of the Bengaluru franchise has heightened the IPL fever in Dharamsala, which is set to host another high-voltage contest at the picturesque HPCA Stadium nestled in the Dhauladhar ranges. The cricket fever has gripped the region and fans from nearby districts as well as neighbouring states are arriving in Dharamsala to watch the clash.
The RCB contingent left directly for Dharamsala under tight security arrangements. Police personnel were deployed in a large number both at the airport and along the route to ensure smooth movement of the team.
