SHAH ALAM – Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in a tense encounter at Portugal’s team hotel after a fan evaded security and attempted to take a selfie with the football star.

A video shared on X showed the supporter running up to Ronaldo before the star pushed the individual away.

Security quickly intervened and removed the fan, along with another supporter.

The 40-year-old forward is currently in camp with the Portugal squad ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Armenia on Saturday, followed by another fixture against Hungary on Tuesday night.

Ronaldo’s actions fueled a debate online, with some users criticising the Al-Nassr striker.

“This is shameful,” one user wrote on X. Another commented, “He’s such an unlikeable person.”

Meanwhile, others defended the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, arguing that the fan had crossed a personal boundary.

“I’m on Ronaldo’s side, you don’t just invade someone’s personal space like that,” one user wrote.

“Happy he shoved him. Stop touching people without permission,” another user added.

Further support came from others, including one who said, “100 per cent agree with Ronaldo! Those people jumping right in front of him without asking. People are crazy! That’s disgraceful.”

The incident occurred as Ronaldo remained the all-time leading player for Portugal, with 138 goals in 221 appearances since his international debut in 2003.

He also won the Euro 2016 title and the Nations League twice with his country.
