PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) between the Madani government and Bersatu would strengthen political stability, ensure continuity in governance and facilitate the effective implementation of Budget 2027.

He said the agreement would provide room for national development initiatives to be carried out effectively in the interests of the people.

“In a democracy, differences in views should not hinder efforts to build a better future. Political maturity requires all parties to put national interests above narrow political interests,” he said in a statement today.

Anwar said this was essential to ensure Malaysia remained peaceful, stable and progressive while safeguarding the people’s well-being.

He also expressed hope that the agreement would serve as a foundation for constructive cooperation, strengthen confidence in the democratic process and advance efforts towards a more prosperous Malaysia.

Earlier today, media reports said six Bersatu MPs and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had signed a CSA with the Madani government, pledging support for Budget 2027 and Anwar’s administration until the end of the parliamentary term.

Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the agreement would also ensure that the party’s MPs received the same constituency development allocations as government backbenchers.

He said the six Bersatu MPs had agreed to support the Supply Bill 2027, which is currently being debated in Parliament, in exchange for the allocations.

“The agreement also covers institutional reforms, including proposals to limit the Prime Minister’s tenure to two terms and separate the powers of the Attorney-General,” he said.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Anwar’s senior political adviser Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Muhyiddin and Syed Saddiq.

Those representing Bersatu were Muhyiddin (Pagoh), Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin (Putrajaya), Ali Biju (Saratok), Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (Langkawi), Nazri Abu Hassan (Merbok) and Azman Nasrudin (Padang Serai).

The deal was also signed by six former Bersatu MPs who were sacked by the party in 2024 after declaring their support for the government.
