The girls’ football teams of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, won the first and third positions on the concluding day of the Khelo Chandigarh Games held on the Panjab University campus grounds on Monday. The A-Team of the school topped the under-19 pool while the B-team claimed the third position.

Earlier in the tournament, judoka Latika of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 56, claimed the gold medal in the -40kg event. In the 44kg event, Nandni of Vedic Girls School, Manimajra, claimed the gold medal, while Anshu of the Sector 56 school won the 48kg event. In the 52kg and 57 kg categories, Ifra Ansari and Anandi of the Manimajra school won the gold medals, respectively.

In the girls’ netball event, Ballers’ Academy claimed the first position, followed by Goal Diggers Club at second and Barnala Team at third. The boys’ team of Burail Sports Club claimed the kabaddi title while Manimajra Sports Club claimed the second position and Dhanas Sports Club settled for the third spot. In the girls’ category, Mansa Devi Sports Club won the title followed by Manimajra Sports Club at second spot and Maul Jagran at third.

The closing ceremony of the event was held at the Convention Centre, Panjab University, Sector 25. Union Minister of State and Member of Parliament SP Singh Baghel attended the event. Haryana Cabinet Minister Dr Arvind Sharma and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Satnam Singh Sandhu were the Special Guests.

Chandigarh BJP president Jitender Pal Malhotra, Mayor Saurabh Joshi, PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Renu Vig were also present on the occasion.
