THE Department of Agriculture (DA) has allowed imported fresh and chilled beef from Brazil through Department Order (DO) 9, s. 2026, signed recently by Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.
The order is in accordance with DO 7, s. 2024, which established the system accreditation for Brazilian meat establishments.
The order contains an updated list of approved Asean Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN) codes for imported meat products, after Brazil was declared free from foot and mouth disease (FMD) without vaccination by the World Organization for Animal Health in May 2025.
Brazil‘s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock had requested inclusion of the specific AHTN codes following its FMD-free status.
All documentary requirements that Brazil submitted were in order, the DA said.
The updated list contains approved codes for different meat categories exported by accredited Brazilian establishments.
Allowed to enter Philippine ports are fresh, chilled, or frozen carcasses, bone-in cut, boneless meat, edible offal such as tongues and livers, among others, and fats.
Likewise permitted are frozen pork carcasses, hams and shoulders, edible offal such livers, and pig fat.
Also allowed are frozen whole chickens, cuts such as wings, thighs, and livers, mechanically defined meat, and chicken fat.
Meanwhile, approved turkey imports include frozen whole turkeys, cuts and offal, livers, and mechanically deboned meat, among others.
Duck shipments include whole ducks and fatty livers, among others.
