Rajya Sabha member Balbir Singh Seechewal said on Monday that dairy units not installing flow meters are set to face action.
The decision, along with several others, was taken during the 37th review meeting on the cleaning of Budha Nullah. Dairy units extracting groundwater indiscriminately, misusing water and dumping cow dung into the water body will also face strict legal action.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain said no leniency will be shown towards any individual or institution polluting Buddha Nullah.
The DC directed the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) to take action against industries polluting the water body. Dairy owners were also instructed to install water storage tanks.
Seechewal expressed concern over excessive extraction of groundwater and said it could become a major crisis in the future.
