THE Democratic Action Party (DAP) has reiterated its unwavering support for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister, assuring that there will be no backstabbing or betrayal.
In a statement at the 18th DAP Congress held at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) on Sunday, DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook declared that the party remains committed to Anwar's leadership and emphasised that Malaysia is on the right track under his administration.
“Under nearly 28 months of Anwar’s leadership, Malaysia has regained political stability. The Madani Government today is stronger and more stable,” Loke remarked.
He assured party members and the public that the dark chapter of the Sheraton Move, which led to the political turmoil and the collapse of the previous government, would not repeat itself.
“There is no need for betrayal, as Malaysia is now on the right path under Anwar’s leadership. I am proud to say that DAP has contributed to the stability and strength of the Madani Government. We have stood by Anwar since his oath of office, and we remain steadfast—true partners!” Loke added.
Loke also addressed the importance of strengthening unity and loyalty within the coalition, despite the numerous challenges they have faced.
“Even though we face various challenges, we will ensure that loyalty and unity within the government will be reinforced,” he said.
The 18th DAP Congress also saw the election of the Central Executive Committee (CEC), where 65 candidates competed for 30 seats.
The CEC serves as the highest decision-making body within the party, setting the direction and policies of DAP, enforcing its constitution, and taking necessary actions based on the party's framework. – March 16, 2025
