In the midst of a heated exchange between DAP leaders and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, it is becoming increasingly evident that it's time for the Muda president to make good on his threat to exit the government bench.

The recent developments, including the sudden halt to Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's case and Syed Saddiq's controversial comments, have raised questions about his commitment to his role in the PMX's government.

DAP's Howard Lee Chuan How has issued a challenge to Syed Saddiq, urging him to follow through with his promise to withdraw Muda's support from the government.

This move, Lee argues, would allow the opposition to focus on the critical task of nation-building and addressing the welfare of the people without being entangled in what he perceives as "childish" antics from certain individuals and parties.

Syed Saddiq's recent statements, particularly his support for Khairy Jamaluddin's characterization of DAP as Zahid's "lapdog," have clearly struck a nerve among DAP leaders. The hurtful label has elicited strong reactions, especially from Malay members within DAP.

Lee's assertion that DAP had supported Syed Saddiq during his legal troubles in 2021 underscores a sense of betrayal in the face of recent criticisms. The acrimony between the parties appears to be deepening, and the bridges that once existed are now being burned.

The decision to grant Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) has triggered public outrage, further intensifying the discord between DAP and Syed Saddiq's Muda party.

It is clear that the unity government is strained, and the time for Syed Saddiq to follow through on his promise and exit may be drawing near.

In the interest of political stability and effective governance, it is essential for all parties involved to act responsibly and uphold the principles that underpin their roles in government. The public is watching closely, and the actions of these leaders will undoubtedly shape the nation's political landscape in the days to come.

However, if Muda felt strongly about the issue of DPM's DNAA, the party should take steps to vacate the government's bench because Zahid is not going anywhere, and neither is DAP.
