Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (Dapsy) chief Chan Loong Wei (pic) has accused Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan, who is also Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) president, of using Pakatan Harapan (PH) as a scapegoat to distract from corruption allegations against him.

Chan described Jeffrey’s remarks as a desperate attempt by a veteran politician to prolong his career by shifting attention away from mounting public scrutiny.

He cited a news portal report quoting a whistleblower, who allegedly released 12 WhatsApp screenshots showing Jeffrey receiving bribes between April and December 2023 under labels such as “Christmas gifts” and “land purchase fees.”Chan said the screenshots included messages where Jeffrey allegedly demanded a sum of money for a land deal, sought funds for personal expenses, and repeatedly requested money to cover festive celebrations and travel.

He stressed that Jeffrey must respond directly to the allegations instead of blaming PH, adding that the people of Sabah wanted accountability, not “a circus of political theatrics.”
