KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Democratic Action Party Socialist Youth (Dapsy) has urged the Election Commission to allow postal voting for Sabahans living in the peninsula and Sarawak to ensure fair and inclusive access to the ballot box.

Sabah Dapsy chief Chan Loong Wei (pic), on Thursday, said many young Sabahans studying or working outside the state still maintain voting constituencies at home but face steep travel costs and logistical challenges to return.

He said airfares ranging from RM600 to RM1,000 make it difficult for students and low-income workers to vote, especially when elections are called on short notice.

Dapsy noted that postal voting already exists for Malaysians abroad, security forces and government staff, and extending it domestically would strengthen democratic participation.

Chan said modernising the process with online applications, verification and tracking would ensure transparency and accessibility for all citizens regardless of where they live.
