A viral video shows a man hydrofoiling beneath Penang Bridge, stunning viewers while raising safety concerns over restricted waters.

A man’s daring stunt beneath the Penang Bridge has ignited a wave of reactions online after a video of him seemingly “surfing” under the iconic structure went viral.

The clip, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows an individual dressed in what appears to be full swimwear, skilfully balancing on a hydrofoil board as he glides across the water.

Filmed from a moving vehicle above, the footage captures the man riding the currents directly below the bridge, with the hum of passing traffic adding to the surreal nature of the scene.

The video was shared by the Facebook page PenangKini and quickly gained significant traction, racking up thousands of views, likes and comments from intrigued netizens.

While many viewers were impressed by the man’s balance and technical skill, praising the stunt as both bold and visually striking, others expressed serious concern over the potential dangers involved.

The stunt has raised questions regarding how the individual accessed the waters beneath the bridge, an area generally considered a restricted zone monitored by marine enforcement authorities.

“It’s dangerous. Isn’t there an engineer monitoring the sea level and the bridge pillars under the Penang Bridge? This is risky,” commented a user named Jackapachi.

“Areas for public activities are only at designated beaches with safety officers. That spot is already within a maritime or deep-sea shipping zone monitored by the marine police or the navy (TLDM).”

In contrast, other users remained focused on the feat itself.

“Not by the beach… out in the middle of the sea. That’s seriously impressive,” stated another commenter, Pesal Faizal.

At the time of writing, authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the legality of the activity or whether any action will be taken against the individual involved.
