Dave Portnoy has clarified whether Caitlin Clark blocked him on social media, after initially claiming he had been completely cut off.
The situation quickly gained attention because of Portnoy’s public reaction and the unexpected nature of the claim. What started as a complaint soon turned into a back-and-forth that revealed more context.
That timeline is what makes the story interesting. It did not end where it first appeared to.

Dave Portnoy claimed Caitlin Clark blocked him after no response
Portnoy first made the claim in a post shared via his X handle on April 4, suggesting Clark had suddenly cut off communication.
He said, “She blocked me. Caitlin Clark has blocked me and is now not responding to me. … I was going to do a pizza review with her in Indianapolis. Blocked me.
“The phone went to green. I DM’d her, no response. She always responds.”
The claim quickly circulated, with many taking it at face value given Portnoy’s certainty.
Dave Portnoy later reveals that Caitlin Clark did not actually block him
Two days later, Portnoy provided an update after finally hearing back from Clark. In a follow-up post on April 6, he explained what had really happened.
Portnoy said, “I said, ‘Testing, am I blocked?’ She said, ‘Yes, crying emoji, laughing, then no, LOL. I think you sent that last text when I was flying.”
The clarification showed that the situation was more of a misunderstanding than an actual block.
It also closed the loop on a story that had briefly taken off based on incomplete information.
