Harry Kane failed to help England win against Ghana at the World Cup.

Following a thunderous start with a 4-2 win over Croatia, most fans expected England to easily cruise to victory against Ghana.

The biggest expectations fell on the shoulders of superstar Harry Kane, who scored a brace in England’s World Cup opener. However, Kane and Co. failed to impress in a frustrating 0-0 draw vs. Ghana.

Harry Kane was ‘cursed’ before the Ghana game

At 32 years old, Kane is still in the prime of his career and entered the World Cup in insane form with FC Bayern Munich at the club level.

As mentioned earlier, Kane continued that form vs. Croatia with two goals to his name. But before the Ghana game, the English striker was seemingly cursed by a witch doctor.

“I am working on Harry Kane. I have shown what I am capable of before so I know what work I must do to stop him. I am not wishing him serious injury.

“It will be just enough to stop him against my country. I will do my work so that it can help Ghana,” the witch doctor claimed before the game.

Fans scoffed at the doctor’s warning as an empty threat, as England were the heavy favorites against Ghana, but looking at Kane’s disastrous performance made them believe in it.

Dave Portnoy understands why the Ghanaian witch doctor cursed Harry Kane

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has fallen in love with the FIFA World Cup, as evident from his barrage of X posts since the tournament began.

Keeping that tradition alive, Portnoy shared his two cents on Kane’s lackluster performance vs. Ghana, including the now-popular curse.

While Portnoy feels it was ‘fair game’ by the doctor, English fans would disagree with him. After all, Kane seemed like an entirely different player in the 0-0 draw.

For instance, Kane finished the game with just 19 touches, his lowest for England in any major tournament appearance where he played in at least 80 minutes.

With England yet to clinch a direct spot in the Round of 32, the fanbase will wish for the curse to be lifted ahead of the team’s final group stage game vs. Panama.
