Kota Kinabalu: Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) and the Sabah Veterinary Services Department (DVS) were urged to strengthen and solidify the cooperation network in managing and controlling pet dogs and stray dogs.
In addition, Assistant Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister II Peto Galim also hopes that more engagement sessions and awareness programmes can be implemented in an integrated manner by both parties to increase public awareness regarding laws in force such as the Animal Welfare Enactment 2015 and Dog Registration and Control By-law 1963.
He said this during his work visit to DBKK and the DBKK Animal Pound last Friday.
He was welcomed by DBKK Deputy Director-General (Operations) Robert Lipon, City Environmental Health Department Director Syron A Tunggolou, Human Resource Development Department Director Dr Albert J Lintanga and officers from the Engineering Department, Enforcement Department, Finance and Budget Department and Complaints and DBKK Public Relations.

After the briefing session, they visited the area around the DBKK Animal Pound.
Also discussed was the need to improve the animal pound facility and proposals to expand its existing space.
Also present were Dr Senthilvel KSS Nathan, Senior Assistant Director of the DVS Kota Kinabalu Region, representing the DVS Director and members from the DVS Animal Welfare Unit and the Veterinary Enforcement Unit.
