KOTA KINABALU: City Hall (DBKK) has ordered a temporary stop-work notice on piling activities at a construction site near Taman Austral, Kepayan, following complaints from residents about vibrations felt during the works.
DBKK said only bore piling was approved for the site to minimise vibration compared to displacement piling, but initial checks revealed that vibrations likely came from formwork removal.
To ensure public safety, the developer has been instructed to halt all piling works until the appointed structural consultant completes a mitigation study and implements the necessary safety measures.
The consultant must also prepare a detailed impact report and conduct dilapidation surveys on nearby buildings before work resumes, with any resulting damages to be fully borne by the developer.
DBKK and the Housing and Town Development Authority (LPPB) will continue joint monitoring to ensure construction activities comply with technical and environmental regulations for the well-being of nearby residents.
