DBKK: Over 20,000 parking bays available, stop illegal parking

KOTA KINABALU: City Hall says more than 20,000 parking bays are available in the city centre, urging motorists to use designated spaces instead of parking illegally.

DBKK said it provides about 4,005 public bays, with additional parking in facilities like KK Plaza, Menara Jubili and KK Sentral, while over 19,000 more bays are available in nearby commercial buildings.

Despite this, some drivers continue to park along roadsides, entrances, junctions and pedestrian areas, causing congestion, safety risks and disruption to businesses.

Authorities said enforcement will follow standard procedures, including warnings before compounds are issued, with towing used as a last resort for serious or repeated offences.

DBKK also reminded the public that walking short distances from parking areas is normal in major cities and helps reduce congestion while improving urban order.
