KOTA KINABALU: The City Hall (DBKK) has officially opened its new tourist jetty, which will serve as the main gateway to the city’s popular island attractions.

The jetty, managed by DBKK Holdings Sdn Bhd, has been designated as the central hub for departures to Manukan, Sapi, Mamutik, Gaya and Mengalum islands within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park.

Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah said the facility was developed to enhance the standard of marine tourism by providing safer, better-organised, and more efficient services for visitors and boat operators.

He also acknowledged the challenges faced by boat operators, including rising costs and safety concerns, while assuring that DBKK would support them through integrated facilities, fair regulations and streamlined systems.

At the launch, DBKK Holdings announced the appointment of a debt collection agent to strengthen financial governance and generate funds for future projects, including further development of the jetty.
