Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) uncovered multiple violations at three bars during an enforcement operation.
DBKL conducted the operation on the eve of Valentine’s Day, which continued until 3 AM on Saturday (14 February). The raids targeted three locations: Cheras, Bandar Menjalara, and Mont Kiara.
Throughout the operation, entertainment hubs, including karaoke outlets, pubs, and restaurants—were inspected.
Hiring workers without permits, operating without licences, and more
According to an official DBKL statement, entertainment equipment from the three bars was confiscated, and a total of seven compounds were issued. The offences included:
- Carrying out entertainment activities without a valid license.
- Operating bar businesses without valid licenses.
- Hiring non-local employees without valid working permits.
- Displaying signboards without valid licenses.
Enforcement action was taken under the Advertisement By-Laws (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 1982, the Food Establishment By-Laws (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 2016, the Entertainment Rules (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 1993, and the Entertainment Act (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 1992.
The seized entertainment and music equipment have been sent to DBKL’s confiscated-items storage facility for documentation and further action.
In its statement, DBKL emphasised that it will continue enforcement efforts and regular monitoring.
