The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has highlighted the extensive cleaning work done to keep the Kuala Lumpur city centre spotless, after people ushering in Christmas had left the streets and sidewalks riddled with litter in the form of string, snow spray cans and more.

Taking to its Facebook page, DBKL encouraged the public to consider the city centre’s image before choosing to litter.

Bukit Bintang littered with trash by the public celebrating Christmas Eve

DBKL stated, “Cleaning works were carried out in the city centre to ensure that the environment is always clean, orderly and comfortable for everyone. However, some parties continue to dispose of garbage indiscriminately, affecting both the cleanliness and the reputation of our city.”

“Even though people are celebrating the festive atmosphere, the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness must still be prioritised. Avoid throwing garbage at will, use the trash cans provided and maintain the public spaces that we share together. The responsible attitude of each individual will have a great impact on the cleanliness of the city,” the city council added.

In the images showcased, massive amounts of used spray cans and other rubbish could be seen piling up on the sidewalks and riddling the streets of Bukit Bintang.

Thankfully, the authorities have ordered cleaning works to be done, which has left the city centre spotless following the celebrations.

We genuinely hope that the general public will refrain from littering wherever they please and choose to discard their rubbish in designated trash cans instead.
