
GILAS Women point guard and Filipino American star Vanessa de Jesus declared for the WNBA draft for this year.
“Help me Jesus,” she wrote in an Instagram post, accompanied by an infographic confirming her declaration for the upcoming draft.
De Jesus re-shared on her Instagram stories congratulatory messages from friends and relatives.
She competed for Duke and Notre Dame in the US NCAA women’s basketball.
In 36 games with the Fighting Irish this season, de Jesus averaged 8.4 points, 34.2 playing minutes, 2.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.2 blocks.
De Jesus spent five seasons with the Duke Blue Devils, winning the NCAA championship in her final year with the club before transferring to Notre Dame for the final year of eligibility.
In her final season with Duke, she had 12.4 minutes, 3.1 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.2 blocks in 36 games.
The WNBA draft for this year will be held on Monday (Tuesday in Manila).
