In his opening address at a political party’s annual general assembly, the Chairman of Barisan Nasional reportedly said if MIC, who had earlier said their delegates had voted to leave BN but leave the decision to their leaders, do not make a decision soon, the BN leadership would decide its fate.
That is decisive leadership.
A leader that makes clear, timely, and confident decisions, even with uncertainty, to drive progress and achieve goals, involving gathering key info, taking responsibility, and communicating effectively, without being rash or arrogant
Decisiveness in leadership is not about rash or impulsive decisions.
It is about making informed and timely choices that align with the broader vision of the organization.
A leader who exhibits decisiveness can inspire confidence in their team, foster a culture of accountability, and drive momentum toward achieving strategic objectives.
The BN Chairman’s decisiveness would probably allow him to direct BN to act swiftly in response to challenges and opportunities, ensuring that BN remain competitive and agile.
Say what about the BN Chairman and the DNAA against him.
At least he is decisive and have the courage to take action, even in the face of uncertainty and appears willing to accept the outcomes of his decisions.
What about MCA?
In early Dec 2025, MCA similarly passed a resolution to quit BN Nasional should any of its components work with DAP in the next general election.
The President of MCA reportedly was quoted to have said that MCA's elected representatives had a responsibility to honour the mandate they received under the BN banner.
When the Chairman of BN stated in June 2024 that BN will continue working with PH come the 16th GE, did MCA, as a component party of BN, rebutted the Chairman of BN publicly then?
Nope.
MCA as usual kept silent or refused to be drawn into the plethora of the moment.
Now, after one and a half year from the time when the Chairman of BN reaffirmed the coalition’s commitment to work with BN in the next GE, MCA found its mojo and voiced out their objection.
Was it because MCA `sensed’ that UMNO could be at its lowest ebb presently and it is the best time for them to put their cards on the table with UMNO?
BN is at its lowest ebb right now especially after the elections in Sabah.
As its anchor party in BN, the Chairman won’t not want to see infighting and component parties trying to etch and establish an advantage over other partners in the coalition.
Should any of its component members tries to disrupt the harmony of the coalition established more than 60 years ago, the Chairman has every right and perogative to kick them out from the coalition as preserving the unity within the coalition should be its utmost priority.
Thus, the warning from Chairman of BN should not be confined to just MIC but should also be widened to include MCA.
