PENAMPANG: Police detained a 41-year-old local to assist in investigations into the death of a 44-year-old local woman who was taken unconscious to Queen Elizabeth Hospital I on Monday and died later.
Penampang Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said investigations by the Penampang District Criminal Investigation Division (CID) led to the arrest of the man who is believed to have begun a relationship with the woman.
“Initial investigations indicate the incident is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement between the victim and the man before she was believed to have been assaulted,” he said in a statement.
“Several exhibits and related samples were also obtained for investigation and forensic analysis,” he said. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
