KUNAK: Parti Warisan remains confidentof retaining the Kunak state seat in the coming election, despite the defection of its former assemblywoman Datuk Norazlinah Arif to Parti Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) in 2023.
Lahad Datu MP Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal said the shift has not weakened the party’s grassroots support in Kunak, which Warisan won in the past two elections.
“Kunak has always been a Warisan stronghold. While the assemblywoman is no longer with us, it hasn’t affected public support significantly.

Yusof observed that as the state election draws nearer, Warisan’s support in Kunak continues to build, especially through community outreach programmes.
“This shows that support is still strong,” he added.
Meanwhile, Warisan Information Chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman echoed Yusof’s sentiment, saying the enthusiasm from the party’s grassroots remains intact.
“Based on the sentiment and spirit in Kunak, we are confident we can retain the seat just as we did in the previous elections,” Azis said.
He also revealed that the party has set up a dedicated committee to vet potential candidates for Kunak and other state constituencies.
“The final decision rests with the party president. The list of potential candidates is almost complete, and the names will be announced at the appropriate time after the Chief Minister dissolves the State Assembly,” he said.
