A traffic police head constable was injured in a hit-and-run incident at the Sarai Julena Red Light in southeast Delhi on Wednesday after being struck by a speeding vehicle allegedly being driven on the wrong side of the road.

According to police, information regarding a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) was received from Fortis Escorts Hospital through General Diary (GD) No. 39 at Police Station, New Friends Colony (NFC). A police team reached the hospital and found the injured official, Head Constable Rahul Kumar, undergoing treatment.

As per the statement of the injured officer, the incident occurred around 10:30 am while he was on traffic management duty at the Sarai Julena lights. He alleged that a vehicle being driven rashly, negligently and at high speed from the wrong side hit him before fleeing the scene.

The injured head constable was taken to Fortis Escorts Hospital, where he was medically examined and provided necessary treatment.The police have registered an FIR at the Police Station, New Friends Colony, under Sections 281, 125A, 132, 221 and 121A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

During the preliminary investigation, officers reviewed CCTV footage from the area and identified the offending vehicle as a black-coloured Kia. Efforts to trace and apprehend the accused are currently under way.
