The Delhi Education Department has decided to conduct all upcoming education review meetings with the heads of government schools through virtual mode as part of its effort to promote efficient governance and reduce unnecessary travel.

The interaction programme, organised by the Directorate of Education (DoE), aims to strengthen Delhi’s government school system through direct discussions with school heads on academic planning, implementation of educational initiatives, administrative coordination and improvement in learning outcomes.

The first session of the programme, covering East Delhi Zones 1 and 2, was held on May 12. During the visit, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood travelled by Delhi Metro to Karkardooma Metro Station and later used a battery-operated rickshaw to reach the venue, highlighting the government’s emphasis on sustainable and accessible public transport.

Following the initial meeting, officials decided that all remaining interaction sessions would now be conducted online. The Directorate of Education has issued a detailed circular outlining the schedule, participation guidelines and protocols for the virtual meetings.

A total of 11 interaction sessions have been planned to cover all 28 education zones across the national capital. The next session, covering Zones 24, 26, 27 and 28 of south, central and New Delhi districts, is scheduled to be held on Friday, May 15, at 10 am through online mode.

The Directorate has directed all regional directors of education and deputy directors of education to ensure participation of the heads of government schools from their respective zones. Meeting links and technical instructions will be shared separately.

The circular also lays down a detailed code of conduct for participants, including timely login, use of official designations and school names, maintaining professional decorum, uninterrupted participation and confidentiality of meeting proceedings.

Speaking on the initiative, the minister said, “Technology enabled governance and direct academic engagement with school leadership are essential for strengthening Delhi’s public education system while also ensuring administrative efficiency and responsible public conduct.”

Officials said the initiative reflects the Delhi government’s commitment towards collaborative educational reforms, accountability and continuous academic improvement across government schools in the city.
