Police lodged a case over a complaint by a woman regarding her roommate’s male guests and relatives who she accused of threatening, harassing and intimidating her, officials said.

The woman has been sharing a one-bedroom rented accommodation with her roommate in Delhi’s Dwarka since February, they said.

According to police, the dispute began after family members of the roommate started visiting the shared room, which the complainant objected to, leading to arguments between the two sides.

“No physical manhandling took place from either side. An FIR has been registered under appropriate sections and further investigation is underway," a police officer said.

The complainant has alleged that her roommate recently called around four male guests to the room, introducing them as her cousins. The roommate’s sister-in-law was already present in the room, she said in her complaint.

The woman claimed that she had no objection to female guests visiting the room but had earlier conveyed her discomfort over male guests in the room.

She alleged that one of the men forcefully entered the room and subsequently misbehaved with her. The woman also accused the visitors of threatening her and forcing her to flee out of fear.

Police said arguments had earlier taken place between the two women over issues related to food.
