A software engineer from Delhi was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a homestay in Mussoorie, the police said on Monday. The woman had travelled to the hill station with her husband and was staying at a property on the Mussoorie Dhanolti road.

The deceased, identified as P Radha Gayatri (27), was originally from Visakhapatnam. Her husband, Soumya Sricharan, works in Pune. The couple got married in November last year.

According to the police, the duo left Delhi on June 13 and spent some time in Rishikesh before checking into a homestay in Mussoorie late on June 14.

The police said they received a call on Monday morning informing them that a woman staying at the property was found unconscious. An ambulance reached the spot where doctors declared her dead.

During questioning, Sricharan told the police that they consumed alcohol and went to sleep around 3:30 am. When he woke up later, he found his wife lying on the floor and noticed blood coming from her nose.

The police said they found bloodstains on a bedsheet inside the room. They also recovered two empty liquor bottles and food items from the spot.

A forensic team visited the homestay and collected evidence. The body has been sent to Coronation Hospital in Dehradun for post-mortem examination.
